PTC is currently holding soccer tryouts for our Special Olympics team this fall. All soccer games will take place on Saturdays this fall from 9/7/19 to 10/12/19 with the locations and times still to be determined. Then if we are lucky enough to qualify, the Fall Games will take place at Mercer County Park during the last week in October. Anyone who needs more information can reach out to Coach Danny for details.
Another year has come and gone. We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Our PTC family is excited and ready to see what the new year brings us, but first, let’s recap how we finished the year!
PrimeTime Carteret of New Jersey spent the summer with a special trip to watch the Somerset Patriots in action. Back by popular demand, participants revisited: Dibble Dabble, Yestercades, and the State Theatre for their summer movies. From nature walks at the South Mountain– Fairy Trail and lunch in the parks. This season we focused on health and fitness. Participants have been working on healthy food choices, reviewing the importance of hygiene, and discussing summer safety. In addition, we focus on the importance of recycling and keeping the community clean. A staff member came up with a weekly activity dedicated to walking around the community, throw- ing out the trash and collecting recyclables to do a weekly drop off at the Carte- ret Recycle Center. We wrapped up the season with some very exciting activities, such as a special visit to TCBY for some frozen yogurt. In addition to a week full of love for Valentine’s Day with baking, art, talks about emotions and friendships, along with a pizza party! New community outings included a shopping trip to everyone’s favorite store, Target! They browsed the store for items of interest and made sure to stay within budget with the help of the staff. Participants were so eager to share their purchases with friends and family. Another first was a visit to the batting cages. Meeting up with our friends from Brick and Eatontown has become a monthly must for us at the Carteret Campus. We met up for a mall scavenger hunt and enjoyed lunch together at the food court. December went as quickly as it came and we made the most of it! This year we went holiday shopping early at Five Below to make sure we purchased all of our loved ones something special. We hope you all enjoyed it! The biggest anticipation of the year is always Holiday Express and with good reason because we had an AMAZING time! The Holiday Express Band really knew how to get us into the holiday spirit. Our participants were dancing and singing with the band like they were a part of it. Summer has ended, but it has left us with some great memories. Our group enjoyed weekly visits to the State Theater to watch some of our favorite movies on the big screen. We kept cool with trips to the pool, enjoyed frozen yogurt with delicious toppings, and paid a visit to 7-11 for snacks and Slurpees. Download the PTC Fall 2017 Edition here.
Our group took a short walk just around the corner from our program to Dibble & Dabble Creativity Center. Not only did we paint, but we also got to put on a show with the centers’ karaoke machine. We hope you all enjoyed the masterpiece your participant created. In addition to this masterpiece, a special photo shoot was held to complete beautiful picture frames as a gift to someone special. We have some real talent with us at the program! Download our Newsletter here.
